7/30- no name

This business of coming up with a title for these posts is just not going well for me. Hence the super-creative and original "no name" post for today!

Anyways, I think I'll share the story of how i got/found this necklace. First off, I love garage sales, in fact my family and I came up with a verb form-garage sale-ing describing the action of sorting out through other peoples' unwanted stuff and bargaining for cents.
Think what you will about it, garage sale-ing is a great way to find some real treasures (of course if you let it, it can become a bit of a hoarding problem, but that's only if you let it). So, one sunny Saturday morning this past summer, my grandma and I were just about to leave a garage sale when a man on a bicycle dropped off BAGS of JEWELRY labeled $1! That was our cue for action! Soon after I was proudly browsing through all the little treasures (that's what I like to call 10 cent necklaces!) in my $1 bag. Amongst them of course, this collar-like pearl necklace!

shirt-Jacob
skirt-H&M
tights- Anne Klein
oxford ankle boots- Spring
belt- H&M (came with skirt)
necklace- garage sale find!

What's your take on garage sale-ing? Any awesome treasures you've found?

  1. I'm in love with that skirt! I saw an orange one sort of similar at Target not that long ago.

I have a beautiful ring in my jewlery box that I found once while garage sale-ing. We used to go often when I was younger.

I had a bit of a fall out with garage sale-ing for a couple of years, but we've reconciled and now I can't wait till spring!;)

  5. I adore garage saling and thrifting. My mother and I go fairly frequently, normally on weekends. There is no end to the amazingness that you can find.

Your necklace is adorable, particularly with the outfit as a whole. :-D

Connie: you HAVE to try it! Come this spring, mark it on your calendar!;)
Ramsey: I feel for you! I used to have to take a train to reach the nearest H&M; wouldn't it be great if they had an online shop?!
Evelyn: You're so right--no limits to the awesome stuff you can come across in thrift stores and garage sales!
I also love the fact that you're reusing something someone once loved!
