opening up

I think I'm a pretty private person in general; but I try to be extra private on the internet because I have a hard time opening up to essentially anyone I haven't met and learned to trust to an extent. That being said, I've found over the last few months, that there are several people (you know who you are ;)) whose sweet comments and frequent visits by this little blog, have always put a smile on my face, which has made me feel like I can share certain things with you all.
The thing is, as we all know by now, life throws things your way, and some of them stick with you forever. Most recently someone close and very dear to me passed away, my grandma. She was a remarkable lady in more ways than I could ever explain, and was an inspiration to me for the past 20 years. She loved people, valued relationships and was easily the most positive person you could find! She was also beautiful and loved dressing up and accessorizing (something I think we share ;)) That's why, for the past little while, whenever I write a post I can't help but think of what she would say if she could see it; only nice things I bet ;) With this outfit for example, I KNOW she would have loved the colors, and the skirt, and would have found a way to make me feel like a million bucks; she had that talent!

I really hope I'm not making any of you uncomfortable or anything like that; it's just that everyone deals with grief differently, and I for one need to remember and share the amazing memories of a lost one, because I feel it's right. No one is obligated to read this of course, but I needed to drop a few lines in tribute to her; for my sake really.

Well, that's as personal as I've been on this blog; and I won't hide that it makes me a little nervous. I feel like I owe it to my grandma, whose positive attitude I aspire to; as well as to my frequent visitors, whose comments and readership mean so much to me!

Thanks to all that actually read what is probably my longest post to date; and to those who simply skimmed the pictures-thanks as well :)

  1. It's always hard to lose a loved one, I hope that you are doing ok. I am glad you have found comfort from your readers and been able to open up. You look great by the way!

    xo L.

  2. So sorry for your loss. I like to honor my grandma by wearing some of her clothes, or her favorite color, brown. It's little things like that that make me smile and think of her throughout the day.

  3. Thanks for sharing such a heartwarming story about your grandma! Her goodness lives on with you, so she's still very much a part of you. :)

  4. I love everything about this outfit! Thank you so much for opening up to us. I am so sorry for your loss. Your grandmother sounds like she was an amazing woman!

  5. I found this lady reminding me of your shopping habits! Check it out!

  6. I'm so sorry for your loss, Anjela. I wish I had had more opportunities to know my grandparents before they passed away. I think you're doing your grandma proud every day (even though I don't know her, haha). It's hard, and some days will hit you worse than others, but it sounds like you're already trying to keep the happiness and goodness with you, which is exactly what it takes.

Much love your way from li'l ol' Oregon. <3

  7. losing a grandparent is such a big thing and thinking about how positive she was is a great way to keep her spirit alive.

  8. Aww Anjela! I'm so happy you felt like you could open up about your grandma here! I know it's hard to reveal such personal thoughts on the internet (I still have a hard time deciding what I should write on my blog and what I shouldn't.) But I'm glad you felt like you could share this.
I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm sure your grandma is looking down on you right now wanting to say how pretty you are and how great this outfit is! No, but seriously, I love the skirt with the brownish-red accessories. Ha.
Hope all is well my dear! Sorry I've been absent for so long. Paris is cutting into my usual blogging habits! Gah. Ha.

  9. You are beautiful. And this post is beautifully sweet. Your grandmother would have definitely been proud! You have fantastic style!

  10. I'm so sorry about your grandma! I'm sure she is very proud of you and would love this outfit! She sounds like an amazing woman!
