technical difficulties...

blazer-H&M; top-Joe Fresh; pants- Pieces; sandals-Nine West; clutch-vintage; watch-

I'm not gonna lie, I'm not the most tech savvy girl you'll meet. In fact, I kind of avoided using a computer until my teens, because I much preferred doing other things. The thing is, I can't deny all the pros for the technological advancements we've all grown accustomed to, but I will say this: sometimes, SOMETIMES, technological advancements can make you feel like a caveman/woman!

Take for instance last week, when in my attempt to change the banner of this blog I proceeded to mess it all up and then spent hours trying to figure out a solution, without any success. In the end, I gave up, slept on it, didn't even think about it till about an hour ago, and finally realized the simplest solution. I'm still not a 100% pleased with the turn out, but it'll do, until my html knowledge improves (or until I get some).

My technical difficulties did not end there though...oh no; my lovely (and very tech-savvy) boyfriend decided that shooting raw files is absolutely amazing, and he got some new program to edit them with, and all these fancy-shmancy shananigans I knew nothing about. Of course, that resulted in me spending nearly an hour on editing the 4 pictures you see above (in comparison, on Photoshop it usually takes me 10min, max!) and in the end, Blogger took 40 minutes (FORTY!) to upload them...

If I wasn't an incredibly calm person, I'd probably have given up and spared you all this little rant...but oh well, at least you've got 4 pictures to look at ;)

Happy Sunday!

another attempt

Let's pretend my legs aren't as ghastly as they are, shall we? And while we're at it, let's also pretend that the weather hasn't chosen to reverse the spring we had just about gotten used to...:(

When I first started this blog, one of the first DIY's I did was 're-vamping' this denim blazer. I have had it for a while now, without really wearing it, so I thought changing up the buttons would entice me to wear it more. That didn't happen. I didn't want to get rid of it fully because it has a nice shape, pretty timeless style, and generally fits well, but I knew I had to do something about it. So, with the help of some thread and black beads, I re-re-vamped it once again; have a feeling this time's the charm.

hat day

I know this will sound ridiculously obvious to some, but I only recently realizes that hats are sort of an awesome way to cover up a bad/unwashed hair (day). That being said, don't go assuming that I haven't washed my hair every time you see me wearing this hat (that really wouldn't be a too far fetched guess, but still).

In other news, my legs are insanely pale...and the way the weather's been looking lately, it doesn't seem they'll be changing anytime soon, so you might as well get used to the whiteness. Also, I'm kind of on a sun-screen-all-the-time frenzy, so chances are this is just how my skin's gonna look from now on. Recently found out that for an adult, having had only 2 sunburns makes you conducive to developing skin cancer; a fact that clearly shook me to my very core! (only 2 sunburns?!?! i think i've probably had a dozen...)

the dark side

Most people who know me in 'real' life know I'm a devoted Star Wars fan. That's not to say that I go to Star Wars conventions, or that I've read all the Star Wars books; just have had a long infatuation with the saga ;)) I first saw episode 4 when I was about 7 and honestly believed the force existed and everything.
Why am I mentioning this, you may wonder? Obviously so that you can feel you know me a little better, and because I take pride in my love for Star Wars; but also because International Star Wars day just passed and this weekend there will be dozens of celebratory gatherings to mark the occasion. Will I be going to one?

shopping for free

After my bf and I moved into our tiny, little apartment, with its very limited closet space, I was a bit concerned about how we'd share a closet that's a quarter the size of my old one. Took me a while to realize there's benefits to sharing- I get to 'shop' in his closet (his t-shirts are so comfortable, it's unreal)! That's how I 'got' the top I'm wearing here; genius? I think so! Oh, and when some of his shirts shrink in the dryer (by complete accident, obviously)--it's like Christmas morning!;)

shine on

Perhaps in respond to my plea yesterday, the weather today was very, very spring-like. I almost got away with wearing just this...but was convinced into wearing a coat instead of the blazer (the bf: "looks like someone wants her cold back", me: :P...one of our more mature conversations).

So I guess it's pretty clear by now I love H&M, huh?! For the sake of full disclosure, I really don't care much for brands; the label is never why I by something. With H&M, I just find what I look for and can afford it, simple as that.

Oh! Happy April Fools' Day; any awesome pranks you'd like to share?

when it rains

Although these pics were taken when it was sunny out, this is an 'when it rains' type outfit. Hence, the rain boots! Some people hate them, some people love them but refuse to pay $$$ for a pair (I'm in this group; I mean they're RUBBER!) and then there's people who would do anything for a pair. I just wanted a pair that keep my feet dry, and are in a fun color to look at :) With that consideration, it was a toss up between yellow and red.

worth breaking the rules

During the 30for30 winter edition, I mentioned I broke the rules a bit...I shopped; well, more precisely I thrifted! And even more precisely, I thrifted this vintage Ralph Lauren blazer! Since it's 100% wool, I figured it'll make a nice transition-type coat, for when spring finally decides to stick around (for longer than a week)!

bright and early

A couple of days ago a dear friend and I got up way too early (I'm almost embarrassed to admit how early it was) and made our way down to a UK designers sample sale. A couple of hours later I was back in bed (making up for the early wake up) and had come home with this lace top, and a summer-y tunic I'm so excited to wear! All in all, it was worth it ;)

26/30- the wind in my hair

Notice how all is fine in the first photo, just me standing, no biggie. Then, all of a sudden, some crazy wind came through for about 5 minutes and it felt like it was going to blow me away! Instead, I just kept on standing while it blew and it was kind of like having one of those wind-making machines used in photo shoots...except messier and free.

By the way, spring/summer must really be hurrying to get here because I've been feeling very nautical lately. So far, I've had to fight it, just because there's only a few nautical items I can work with in my 30 items, but just you wait till we're in the solid double digit positives....it'll be nautical mayhem!

15/30-blazer love

I've just started to realize some of the rewards of this challenge; one of them being-how much wear I've been getting out of this blazer! It's great to remix an item like this, because it makes it so worth every penny.

On that note, I have a bit of a confession to make...it involves me cheating, a vintage Ralph Lauren wool blazer with a crest, and a consignment store I shouldn't have found. It felt so wrong and yet so right, I just couldn't help myself! I know I made a promise not to shop for 30 days, and I'm only half way through and have already cheated, but I feel like there should be an exception to the rule when it comes to AWESOME VINTAGE BLAZERS!
That being said, I will stick to the rest of the rules of the challenge and NOT squeeze in the blazer as one of my 30 items. That means, you'll just have to wait to see how awesome it really is...;)
