On my last trip to the thrift store I walked out with 4 silk garments, each in a bright, bold color. I didn't plan it, but that's all that stood out to me that day, and when I got to the checkout, the sales lady said "oh, I see you're adding some color to your wardrobe"... I chuckled and said "umm, yeah" realizing that she probably isn't familiar with my closet (unless she stops by here, lol) and it's bountiful color selection. I suppose next time I'll go in wearing my red pants, cobalt blue top and purple flats ;)

p.s.- perhaps I should've ironed this shirt... but it's been super-duper hot and I didn't feel like it was worth it, so I tucked it in, and pretended that's how it's supposed to be :)

no need to fear

It took me a little while to warm up to rompers, but their practicallity has officially won me over. I love a good summer breeze every now and then, and I also tend to dress as light as possible during the (awesome) summer months, BUT those two don't always mix well. There's garments in my closet that I constantly have to hold down as I walk down a breezy street, from fear that my undies will be exposed. That's why rompers are ideal summer wear: light and airy, and the shorts-like bottoms are perfect for those gorgeous summer breezes :)

All that being said, this color is really not my most favorite, but I stepped a little out of my comfort zone and chanced it. (it was also only available in this color and on sale...so really, there wasn't much of a debate)

I saw this necklace in an H&M ad in an H&M store in Canada, BUT the sales person said they hadn't received it yet (this is about a month ago; a few days before I left for my trip). That in itself always bugs me a little bit, because I don't like being lured in a store with pictures of stuff they don't even sell (atm that I go in...let's face it, I'm not the most patient person in the world; and when it comes to necklaces like this one, my patience is even less). Naturally, I left bummed out, but secretly hoped I'd spot one of these beauties in Holland (you know how certain chains offer slightly different things in different countries?...yeah, I was hoping to benefit from that)

And that brings me to the most helpful and sweet sales person H&M has ever hired. She ran around the entire 2 story store looking for this necklace, after I asked her, and then chased me down (I thought she forgot about me, so I started wandering around the store). She was polite, all-smiles, and brought me what I wanted :) In short, the perfect sales person!

B-day lunch date

I wasn't 100% sure about this outfit as I put it together, and my bf even cracked a few jokes about me checking it by sitting down and stuff, but all in all, it was a great choice for the perfect Birthday lunch date :) I wish I had taken pictures of the food we had too, because it was absolutely amazing (but then again, I wouldn't want to make you all drool ;PP) I will say this, a sweet potato/coconut with citrus and pineapple soup is probably the most genius combination of ingredients I've tasted!

p.s.- also, 2nd time we've taken pictures outdoors, and this time in a residential area! Really stepping things up, huh?! (I will admit I was sort of tense that someone would come out of their homes and ask us what we're doing...because explaining outfit shots is no easy task) We did get a few pass by-ers give us confused looks, but that's all part of the fun, right? ;)

Is there such a thing as too much fun? I think not. Especially when it comes to twirling around in a skirt that responds to the tiniest whiff of wind :)

enough

There's things I think I can't ever have enough of; summer, milk chocolate, and blazers are all currently on that list. To be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have bought this blazer if it didn't have the super awesome lining which you can see on the rolled up sleeves. Some would argue if that is a good enough reason for a purchase; but I've got no doubts.

Going thrifting doesn't always end successfully; a well known fact to many, I'm sure! But, sometimes, SOMETIMES, you luck out so awesomely that it makes up for all the times you've browsed and browsed and strikes out completely. These printed Nine West heels were a total score; so much so, that I had to pinch myself to make sure they're really an 8.5!

I'm not sure why but getting this post done is the only real thing I've achieved today...and considering it took 5 min (or less) it's seems like I'm just taking a break from ...everything and having a lazy Sunday. Which now reminds me of the SNL Lazy Sunday song; a personal fave :)

monochromatic...almost

Believe it or not, I wasn't aiming for a monochromatic look when I put this on. I was aiming for a light, warm temperature friendly ensemble; and it's exactly what I got. The thing is, as previously mentioned, the wind and this skirt aren't exactly a good match, so I did have to hold it down several times, or live with the idea that strangers saw my undies...Either way, I'm still standing by this purchase!

90's flashback

Maybe it's the fond memories I have of my childhood in the early 90's, or maybe my love for colors; or maybe the fact this shirt is 100% silk and was only $3, or perhaps all of that combined, but I simply couldn't walk away from it. It's kind of crazy, but that's how I am some days, so I thought it fitting ;)

Funny thing is, if my grandmas' closets weren't half way around the world, I could easily find a piece like that hidden there. I say 'hidden' because they're convinced these tops are wayyy out of style, but their inability to throw things out (which has paid off many times, btw) prevents them from actually getting rid of them.
