Denim on denim... yeah, that's happening now. There's a few people on my life who I can guarantee will raise their eyebrow at this combo, but hey, I gotta break a few rules from time to time. That way when my kids look back at this one day (when they're all wearing monotone body suits and living on a spaceships, sort of Star Trek-ish) they'll have something to laugh at ;)

  ...if you think I'm trying to do some sort of fancy pose here, you're wrong. I was laughing/almost dancing (as evident in the pic below, where I'm half-busting a move), and these pics were all I had to choose from basically....soo, there you have it, nothing fancy going on here!...just so we're clear.

There's things I think I can't ever have enough of; summer, milk chocolate, and blazers are all currently on that list. To be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have bought this blazer if it didn't have the super awesome lining which you can see on the rolled up sleeves. Some would argue if that is a good enough reason for a purchase; but I've got no doubts.

basics

A navy, V-neck, jersey dress may not be considered a wardrobe basic by all, but I for one think that should change! It's one of the easiest garments to dress up or down, and a good jersey can be a girl's best friend (let me emphasize on "GOOD"- because I'm sure we all know how clingy certain jersey fabrics can be!)

twirl

Whenever I put on something that has the potential for twirling, I instantly fall in love with it. I'm not sure why exactly, as I can assure you I rarely twirl as I'm walking down the street; yet just the possibility of twirling makes me joyful! It usually takes twice as long to get actual outfit shots when I'm wearing a twirl-worthy garment, because I end up twirling and then getting dizzy, before my bf (and photographer ;)) can actually take a 'normal' picture of me. Lucky for me, he's one of the most patient people I've ever met ;)

memories

You know how some garments always remind you of a first date, an amazing trip, or just an awesome friday night? Well, this skirt will forever remind me of 10 gorgeous days in Italy. It's easy to wear, packs light and goes with just about anything! When I got back from Italy, and I was doing a load of laundry I found a subway ticket from Rome, still tucked away in the pocket of this skirt, and instead of throwing it out or doing something logical with it, I put it right back in the pocket after I washed the skirt. I've done the same for the last 3 years; can't really explain why, but whenever I wear this skirt and re-discover the subway ticket it always puts a smile on my face.

trip + puppy love

Recently, my bf and devoted photographer, and I took a trip to our Canadian hometown (I indicate Canadian, because we were both originally from different hometowns in different countries, but this is the little town where we met and it still feels like home). We used to take long walks on the beach (online dating profiles have ruined that activity, haven't they?!), and just hang out by the lake whenever we could. Naturally, we went there again, and this time took some outfit pictures; times have changed a little.

One of the highlight of our walk was seeing the super adorable, cutest, most bear-like puppy ever! It might sounds a bit strange, but when I was a kid I used to really want a pet bear, but I thought living in an apartment wouldn't suffice (like that would be the only problem with the scenario). When I first saw a Chao Chao, I thought it was just the cutest thing alive, since it's a dog but really resembles a fluffy bear=perfect combination!
Anyways, we took some pics of the puppy before it lost interest in us and trotted away; and the last photo is of me mimicking how I would hold it if it was mine.

I love when DIY's work just as you had hoped! Like with this shirt; just your average 'I hear NY' tube T-shirt bought for about $2, and transformed with the help of some talented DIYer, whom I can no longer find. another attempt

Let's pretend my legs aren't as ghastly as they are, shall we? And while we're at it, let's also pretend that the weather hasn't chosen to reverse the spring we had just about gotten used to...:(

When I first started this blog, one of the first DIY's I did was 're-vamping' this denim blazer. I have had it for a while now, without really wearing it, so I thought changing up the buttons would entice me to wear it more. That didn't happen. I didn't want to get rid of it fully because it has a nice shape, pretty timeless style, and generally fits well, but I knew I had to do something about it. So, with the help of some thread and black beads, I re-re-vamped it once again; have a feeling this time's the charm.

Ever since I transition this blog in the direction of 'personal style' ( not really a fan of the blog 'categories' but I guess that's the one this falls under) I've noticed that my choice of outfits varies quite drastically. I tend to know what I like, and what I'd be willing to try, and what I really dislike, but all in all my 'style' is kind of all over the place. That being said, I believe the most important aspect of getting dressed is feeling good about yourself, regardless if that means you're in jeans a t-shirt, or a pleated midi skirt and 4inch heels.

As I've mentioned before, my mood is very responsible for most of my outfit choices. Some days, when I want to feel pretty, I know just the items that make that happen. This dress has quickly become one of my 'pretty' staples. It's lightweight denim, it's a nice length and I can twirl in it! What's not to love?!
