maybe

shirt-thrifted; shorts-Suzy Shier; belt-vintage; purse-vintage; flats-Joe Fresh; bracelets-gifted & vintage

On my last trip to the thrift store I walked out with 4 silk garments, each in a bright, bold color. I didn't plan it, but that's all that stood out to me that day, and when I got to the checkout, the sales lady said "oh, I see you're adding some color to your wardrobe"... I chuckled and said "umm, yeah" realizing that she probably isn't familiar with my closet (unless she stops by here, lol) and it's bountiful color selection. I suppose next time I'll go in wearing my red pants, cobalt blue top and purple flats ;)

p.s.- perhaps I should've ironed this shirt... but it's been super-duper hot and I didn't feel like it was worth it, so I tucked it in, and pretended that's how it's supposed to be :)

weakness

top-vintage (thrifted); skirt-H&M; flats-Joe Fresh; purse-ALDO; necklace-XXI

I've finally come to accept and embrace the fact that accessories may just be my biggest weakness. I know, it;s pretty hard to be that perfect, but I try.
Seriously though, this one I simply could not walk away from, I tried, and tried, but it somehow ended up at the cash register with me; that kind of stuff happens to me a lot.

p.s.- this top, vintage cuz of the tag, and thrifted for 5$ (which I realize for some of you Americans is crazy money to spend at a thrift store, but once again may I remind you that up north we don't get awesome silk tops for much less! We make do with what we've got ;))

one more reason why thrifting is awesome

Before I left for my trip, I took a brief stop at a local thrift store, not even looking for anything in particular. As usual, I gave the racks a quick run through and headed on for the purse rack. There I found this pretty number! It's been very useful as a cross-body and it's neutral color is easy to work with; it's $7 price tag was also a nice touch :)
Just goes to show that when it comes to thrift shopping, you never know what you might find, so you just need to go at it with an open mind (and about $10!)

summer go-to dress

This dress was definitely a good purchase. I've made my fair share of bad ones, no mistake there; but this little number is a keeper! It's super light, and extremely easy to wear; just throw on a pair of heels and a statement necklace or cuff, and it's dressied-up! Easy as pie :) Perfect for the summer heat ahead!

for the love of stripes

My infatuation with stripes began a long, long time ago when I was really young and only got a part-say in what I wore. My mom was awesome enough to always ask me what I thought of the 'outfit' options she'd lay out, and would even take some of my least crazy suggestions into account. Every summer she loved to put me in some sort of nautical, striped ensemble, and ever since, as summer approaches I feel more and more drawn to stripes! I just can't pass them up.

bruise easily

Studying can put a strain on your overall health, through stress, not eating properly, lack of sleep, etc., etc. But, I bet you didn't expect it could actually bruise you! ( I definitely didn't)
Over the past few weeks I've been to a lot of study groups, and on most occasions I just threw on a pair of jeans and did a lot of sitting. Turns out, because of the low-rise/wearing a leather belt + sitting for hours, I actually managed to get bruised on both my hip bones! It's the randomest thing, and I realize it's probably not very common, but I assure you, it's just another strain of studying for finals, so watch out! ( it could happen to anyone...who wears low rise pants with belts, that is!)
That being said, I opted for my favorite wool shorts and tights combo in this outfit, as to give my hip bone bruises some time to heal.

shine on

Perhaps in respond to my plea yesterday, the weather today was very, very spring-like. I almost got away with wearing just this...but was convinced into wearing a coat instead of the blazer (the bf: "looks like someone wants her cold back", me: :P...one of our more mature conversations).

So I guess it's pretty clear by now I love H&M, huh?! For the sake of full disclosure, I really don't care much for brands; the label is never why I by something. With H&M, I just find what I look for and can afford it, simple as that.

Oh! Happy April Fools' Day; any awesome pranks you'd like to share?

worth breaking the rules

During the 30for30 winter edition, I mentioned I broke the rules a bit...I shopped; well, more precisely I thrifted! And even more precisely, I thrifted this vintage Ralph Lauren blazer! Since it's 100% wool, I figured it'll make a nice transition-type coat, for when spring finally decides to stick around (for longer than a week)!

hand-me-down

I love hand-me-downs; mainly because I only ever got super well-preserved stuff from my mom or my grandmothers, and it's nice to wear something they once loved!
The case with this sweater is a little different...it's actually my bf's. He didn't want it because of some silly reason...something to do with the neckline/tightness; so I took it off his hands. That's just how nice I am. He's a lucky guy, right?!

stripe love

Anytime I stare into my closet cluelessly, I usually end up putting on stripes. Or jeans. Or, like in this case, both! Really mixing things up, aren't I?!

28/30-versatility

I love me some versatile pieces. Take this scarf for example, it's cashmere, it's a pretty color, and it's long enough to wrap around 4 times! But the awesomeness doesn't end there, oh no! I could even transform it into what I like to call-a scarf vest! Now, while I take no credit for this clever invention, I do think it's really clever and you should all try it (except those of you who are already enjoying warm enough weather that you can avoid needing a scarf...I envy you a little bit...a little bit).
